Terms of Service

Terms of Service
Effective Date: August 10, 2026
Legal Entity: Teton Software Inc. ("Algo School", "we", "us")
1. What you're agreeing to
These terms are the agreement between you and Teton Software Inc. for your use of Algo School. By creating an account or using the service, you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
Two other agreements sit alongside this one and are part of your relationship with us: the Billing & Cancellation Policy (what you pay and how you cancel) and the Content Safety & AI Limitations disclaimer (what AI-generated and third-party material can and can't be trusted to do). Where they cover a topic in more detail, they govern it.
2. Who can use Algo School
- You must be 18 or older to create an account.
- Accounts are for parents and legal guardians. You create a profile for each child; children do not create their own accounts and do not give us their own contact details.
- You confirm you have the authority to enrol each child whose profile you create, and to accept these terms on their behalf.
- Children use the service through the profiles you create, under your supervision.
3. Your family account
An account belongs to a family. You can invite a co-parent, who then sees the same children, the same progress, and the same family billing information.
One adult in the family is the billing owner — the person whose payment method is on file. Both parents can view billing activity; only the billing owner can start, change, or cancel a subscription or buy credits.
You're responsible for what happens under your account, for keeping your sign-in secure, and for the PINs that protect parent-only screens and each child's profile.
4. What the service does
Algo School generates practice questions, hints, explanations, and scoring for school concepts, and offers an AI tutor your child can work through a lesson with. It tracks what your child has mastered and uses that to choose what to practise next.
Much of this material is generated by artificial intelligence. AI can be wrong. It can mark a correct answer wrong, explain something in a confusing way, or produce a question that doesn't make sense. The Content Safety & AI Limitations disclaimer covers this in full, and asks you to stay in the loop as the adult. Algo School supports your child's learning; it does not replace a teacher, a curriculum, or your judgement.
5. Using the service fairly
Please don't:
- share your account with people outside your family, or resell access;
- copy, scrape, or redistribute our questions, explanations, or other content outside your own family's use;
- try to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to any part of the service;
- use the AI tutor to generate material that is unlawful, harmful, or unrelated to your child's learning;
- upload or submit content you don't have the right to submit.
We may suspend or close an account that does these things.
6. Payment, trials, and cancellation
Pricing, free-trial length, renewal, AI credits, and what happens when you cancel are all set out in the Billing & Cancellation Policy, which you accept separately. Card details are handled by our payment processor, Stripe — we never see or store your card number.
7. Who owns what
- Ours: the software, the curriculum structure, the generated question bank, explanations, and the Algo School name and design. Using the service doesn't transfer any of it to you. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it for your own family.
- Yours: what your family puts in — your child's answers, their written work, and their conversations with the tutor. You keep ownership. You give us permission to process it in order to run the service: to score it, adapt future practice to it, show it back to you as progress, and — as described in the Privacy Policy — send it to the AI providers who generate the response.
8. Service availability and changes
We're a small team and we improve the product continuously. Features can change, and the service can be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. We don't promise uninterrupted or error-free service.
If we make a change that materially reduces what you're paying for, we'll tell you.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that AI-generated material is accurate, complete, or pedagogically appropriate for your particular child, or that using Algo School will produce any particular academic result.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Teton Software Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or lost educational opportunity, arising from your use of the service.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits; where that's the case, they apply to the extent permitted, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Ending the agreement
You can stop using Algo School and close your account at any time; cancellation and refund behaviour is in the Billing & Cancellation Policy. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that we're required to close by law, or where continuing would create a safety risk. When an account closes, we handle the data as described in the Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we publish a new version and ask you to accept it the next time you sign in. The version you accepted stays on record; we don't rewrite past versions. If you don't accept a new version, you can stop using the service and cancel.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the State of New Jersey, and you and we each consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
